Temperatures will dip into the single digits tonight in Cape Girardeau and around the region, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
The forecast low for Cape Girardeau is 6 degrees tonight, while this afternoon's temperatures are expected to top out at 24 degrees. At 1:53 p.m., the latest recorded temperature at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport was 23 degrees, with winds out of the north at 14 to 21 miles per hour, making the air seem much colder.
Warmer air should arrive Friday night, bringing with it a chance of snowed or mixed wintry precipitation. Highs will then climb into the 40s over the weekend, according to weather service forecats.
