Lauchette Low of Cape Girardeau has been selected to serve on the national Smoke-Free Class of 2000 field advisory group.
The American Lung Association selected her to be a member of the group. The lung, heart and cancer societies each selected three representatives from across the country to serve on this committee.
Low recently attended a national meeting of this group.
She said Missouri is in the forefront, one of the top 10 states, in planning for the Smokefree Class of 2000.
"The exciting thing is that the class of 2000 is just the first class. We will have the smokefree class of 2001, 2002 and so on," she said.
