Broadway soon will be blooming with art, and the locations of the seven sculptures stretch from Spanish Street to Pacific Street, according to a news release from the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department.
The pieces will be welcomed at a reception at 6 p.m. April 4 at the Vasterling Suites courtyard at the southwest corner of Broadway and Fountain Street, the release said. The reception is open to the public.
The sculptures, which will be in place for a year, will be installed at the following locations:
* The north side of Broadway between Fountain and Lorimier streets
* The south side of Broadway between Lorimier and Spanish streets
* The north side of Broadway at the Pacific Street intersection
* The south side of Broadway between Sprigg and Frederick streets
* The south side of Broadway between Middle and Fountain streets
* The north side of Broadway at the Frederick Street intersection
* The south side of Broadway at the Vasterling Suites courtyard
The Public Art Committee organized the inaugural exhibit, and Tom Stancliffe, art professor at the University of Northern Iowa, led the committee in the jurying process.
