Nancy Mattingly, Southeast Missouri Hospital Cancer program coordinator, has received the American Cancer Society's Distinguished Service Award for Missouri, the highest award presented to an individual by the Missouri Division.
Mattingly received her award at the Cancer Society's 48th Missouri Division annual meeting, held recently in Jefferson City.
Mattingly, an American Cancer Society volunteer for 15 years, currently serves as an at-large member of the Missouri Division board of directors and has chaired the Division Patient Services Committee the past two years. She is also a member of the Detection-Treatment, Finance, Chairman's Advisory and Executive committees.
She has served on the Division Transportation Task Force, and was instrumental in helping to implement the "We Can Weekend" program in Missouri. The "We Can Weekend" is an annual retreat for cancer patients and their families to help them better understand and cope with the effects of cancer.
Mattingly has a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University. She has been a member of the Southeast Missouri Hospital staff since 1978.
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education and service.
