Mimi Higgins of Cape Girardeau received top honors at the 1993 Missouri State Vocational Industrial Clubs of America skill and leadership olympics.
Higgins, a student at Cape Girardeau Vocational-Technical School, received first place in the SRI welding contest.
Approximately 1,400 VICA members and advisers attended the conference at Central Missouri State University.
Those who took part in the skill-leadership olympics received top awards in their respective district competition and were eligible to compete at the state level. First-place winners at the state olympics are now eligible to participate in national competition.
Higgins is the wife of Michael Higgins and mother of James and John Higgins of Cape Girardeau.
