Saint Francis Medical Center's new patient tower set to open this summer will include a cafe featuring items from My Daddy's Cheesecake, the medical center announced.

The medical center and Cape Girardeau restaurant formed a partnership that will open The Friends Cafe in the lobby of the patient tower, according to a news release from Saint Francis.

The cafe, which will be staffed by My Daddy's Cheesecake employees and offer main dish and dessert selections, is part of the medical center's ongoing expansion and renovation project. The Friends of Saint Francis, a foundation group at the medical center, raised $85,000 toward placing the cafe in the patient tower, which will open July 1.

Foundation board representatives said in the news release the cafe will serve as a central location in the tower where families and friends of patients and other hospital visitors can find a comfortable gathering place.

The menu will include breakfast items and salads, soups, sandwiches, various desserts -- including some that are diabetic-friendly -- and the restaurant's cheesecake. The cafe will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
