Eleven members from P.E.O. chapters in Cape Girardeau attended the Missouri State Chapter meeting Saturday and Sunday in Columbia.
They are: Martha Maxton of Chapter BI; Margaret Miller of Chapter CX; Louise Taylor, Marilyn Prill and Norma Jones of Chapter DJ; Mary Miller of Chapter EY; Laurie Schnieder of Chapter FY; Margaret Pind of Chapter GF; Sandy Hastings of Chapter JN; Joan Gohn of Chapter LA; and Brenda Johnson of Chapter LY.
Prill is a past president and Jones is a past executive secretary of the state chapter.
"Lamp of Education for Women" was the theme of the 104th annual convention. More than 330 representatives attended from across the state.
Janice Rice Haas of Chapter CX in Chaffee was installed as the new president of the state chapter.
P.E.O. is an international women's organization with an interest in providing women with inceased opportunities for higher education. There are approximately 6,000 chapters in the U.S. and Canada with more than 310,000 members.
