Nine members of the Zeta Alpha Lamba Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda at Southeast Missouri State University attended the state Leadership Conference of Phi Beta Lambda in Jefferson City.
Those attending included Clay Woemmel, Linda Koenig, Cassandra Wilson, Bruce Skinner, Tonya Eskew, Linda Herman, Toby Stoker, Rebecca Kilgore, and Jessica Hemmann.
Roy Farris, professor of management and co-advisor to the local chapter, accompanied the students to Jeff City. Students and advisors from local chapters throughout the state attend the yearly conference.
The local chapter's parliamentary procedures team placed first in the state competition this year. Team members are Woemmel, Wilson, Koenig, Kilgore and Herman. Woemmel, Wilson, and Koenig are also members of the Missouri State parliamentary procedures team which will represent the state of Missouri in national competition in Anaheim, California, in July.
Hemmann placed second in the business communication event; Eskew was the second place award winner in the telecommunications competition; and Koenig, president of the local chapter of Zeta Alpha Lambda, placed first in the Ms. Future Business Executive competition.
These three people are now eligible to represent the state of Missouri at the National Competition in Anaheim.
In addition, next year's slate of officers of the Missouri State Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda includes Eskew as reporter/historian and Wilson as state parliamentarian.
Farris, a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Missouri State Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, received a certificate of appreciation for his continuing service as advisor to the Zeta Alpha Lambda Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda. He will continue next year as a member of the board of directors of the Missouri State Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda.
Activities at the State Leadership Conference include both individual and team events, professional workshops (for both students and advisors), social activities, guest speakers, and the election of officers. Clay Woemmel past President of the local chapter, served as last year's president of the state chapter.
