A 31-year-old man was sentenced Monday by Circuit Court Judge Benjamin F. Lewis to five years of supervised probation for downloading earlier this year a video of an underage girl posing nude.
Shane R. Steck, charged Feb. 5 with possession of child pornography, pleaded guilty to the felony in July.
According to court documents, Steck downloaded the 20-minute video on a laptop he was issued by his employer, Creative Edge of Jackson. A fellow employee saw the video and reported the incident to police after Steck had brought the laptop back to work, reporting it had a virus.
Lewis listed a number of conditions of probation for Steck, who must not drink alcohol or use illegal drugs. Steck must also register as a sex offender in Missouri. He must attend a weekly sex offender group and not live in a home with anyone under the age of 18.
