Several grass and brush fires today have led some local fire officials to ask the public to use caution when burning materials outside, though no official burn ban is in place.
John Sachen, a training specialist with the Delta Fire Protection District, said agencies in Scott County and the Delta agency have fought four brush and grass fires combined today. High winds and low humidity, coupled with plenty of dried grass, have made conditions right for fires, Sachen said.
People are encouraged not to burn anything outside and to keep smoking materials inside their cars, Sachen said.
