A student from Cape Girardeau and one from Jackson were named 1992 Young Women of the Year at a competition last weekend.
Janie Propst, a student at Cape Girardeau Central High School, won the South Cape County competition. She is the daughter of Ed Propst and Donna Propst.
Kerri Monteith, a student at Jackson High School, won the North Cape County competition. She is the daughter of Gary and Carol Monteith.
First runner-up in the south contest was Carrie Peterman and second runner-up was Deborah Chung. Both are students at Central High School.
First runner-up in the north contest was Nickole Keller, a student at Central High School. Sherry Langford, a student at Jackson High School, was second runner-up.
The two top winners advance to the Missouri Young Woman of the Year competition to be held Jan. 24-25 at the Florissant Civic Center.
