Steve Brown, an audiologist in Cape Girardeau since 1983, has been appointed to serve as a member of the Advisory Commission for the Missouri State Board of Healing Arts.

The advisory commission is responsible for the licensing and regulation of speech-language pathologists and clinical audiologists through the state.

The three-year appointment will become effective Jan. 1.

Brown is a native of Texas and a graduate of North Texas State University. Prior to coming to Cape Girardeau he was employed by the Illinois State Department of Mental Health. He has served as a clinical practicum supervisor for graduate students from Southeast Missouri State University and Southern Illinois University.

Brown works in association with Dr. Richard Martin, ENT, and will continue providing audiology services at his office in Doctors' Park.
