JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Lincoln University Board of Curators approved a 10 percent tuition increase Thursday. It will take effect for the fall semester.
The increase is needed because the governor's office is recommending a $2.3 million cut to the university's funding, said Curtis Creagh, the school's vice president.
The increase will mean in-state, undergraduate students will have to pay an additional $11 for each credit-hour.
Tuition currently is $107 a credit-hour. Out-of-state undergraduate tuition will increase to $236 from $214.
In-state, graduate school tuition will increase to $150 a credit-hour next fall from $136. Out-of-state tuition will jump to $300 a credit-hour from $272.
Last fall, about 3,300 students enrolled in the university. In 2001, tuition rose 6 percent.
