JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Authorities at Lincoln University in Jefferson City said police are investigating after a shooting was reported on campus.

The university said one student was hospitalized, but officials declined to say whether that person was shot or provide other details.

The shooting occurred about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday between Anthony Hall and Scruggs University Center.

A person of interest, who is not a student at the school, still is being sought.

The Jefferson City News-Tribune reported the student was hospitalized Tuesday but a condition report was not immediately available.

The campus was locked down for about two hours during the investigation.

Classes and business offices were operating on regular schedules Tuesday.
