The fate of a damaged street lamp and pole at the intersection of Kingshighway and Broadway could be decided later this week.

The pole, apparently the casualty of a misguided vehicle, has listed badly for the past two months.

But city officials said Tuesday they've been unable to determine who is responsible for the repair.

Although the pole apparently is situated on Union Electric property, an official from the utility company said the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department erected the pole when it redesigned the intersection.

Julie Dale, deputy city clerk, said the city wants the pole fixed but is in "limbo" because both Union Electric and the highway department contend the other party is responsible for the pole.

A.D. Cox, superintendent of construction and operations for Union Electric's southeast district office here, said representatives from Union Electric and the highway department will meet with city officials later this week to try to resolve the matter.
