Lichtenegger to run for state rep

JACKSON, Mo. -- Donna Lichtenegger of Jackson formally announced Tuesday that she is running for state representative of the 157th District.

In a written statement, Lichtenegger said education would be her top priority. She said she would work to improve all aspects of education, particularly funding for teachers, teacher retention, student achievement and technical/ vocational training.

Lichtenegger said she will assemble a task force of local teachers to draft a plan to improve education.

"Teachers know what works and what is needed," she said. "I will live by the advice of teachers, concerned parents and our fine administrators as I consider all education proposals."

The district includes parts of Cape Gir-ardeau and Perry counties.

She is one of four Rep-ublican candidates seeking to replace incumbent David Schwab, who can't seek re-election because of term limits. The others are Gerald Adams and Scott Lipke of Jackson, and Tom Sachse of Friedheim.
