ST. LOUIS -- Ryan D. Lichtenegger of Jackson, Mo., has joined the U.S. Army.

According to his recruiter, Staff Sgt. Dennis Wisner of the U.S.Army Recruiting Station located at 1307 Broadway in Cape Girardeau, Pvt. Lichtenegger has received the Army's written guarantee that he will receive training in the job specialty of his choice, Avenger crew member.

Pvt. Lichtenegger, who is a 1996 graduate of Jackson High School, will take basic training at Foil Sill, Okla., and advanced individual training at Fort Bliss, Texas, reporting for duty Nov. 26.

He is the son of Mr. Vernon and Mrs. Judy Lichtenegger of Jackson.

Young people who can meet the Army's physical and aptitude standards may call Staff Sgt. Wisner at 335-9052 to learn more about Army opportunities. He has information on the Army's Delayed Entry Program (DEP), in which a recruit can take up to 365 days before beginning active duty; future college expenses. He also has information on cash bonuses, skill training, educational aid, travel options and many more benefits the Army has to offer.
