Several new titles have arrived at the main Jackson branch of the Riverside Regional Library recently.
New books in the adult division include The Carousel, by Richard Paul Evans; Mary, Mary, by Julie Parsons; The Devil's Code, by John Sandford; and The Last Precinct, by Patrica Cornwell.
New in the Young Adult division are Fire Bringer, by David Davies-Clement and The Amber Spyglass, by Philip Pullman.
In the children's division, new titles include The Brand New Kid, by Katie Couric and Miss Bindergarten Stays Home From Kindergarten, by Joseph Slate.
A workshop for adults by the Rubber Stamp Club of Jackson will be
presented Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. at the library in Jackson, 204 S. Union. The program will be on making Christmas cards using rubber stamps. Participants should register at the library. There will be a $5 fee for supplies.
The Book Group will meet every first Monday at the library, 204 S. Union, Jackson. Adults are invited to join. The next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. The group is reading East of the Mountains, by David Guterson.
The library will sponsor a free basic photography workshop at the library in Perryville, 800 City Park Dr., Monday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. Information will be for both point and shoot and single lens reflex cameras. Bring a camera without film.
The library system will be closed Saturday, Nov. 11 on Veterans Day.
The RRL website at www.showme.net/rrl has information on more new books, audios and videos, as well as other interesting links to a wealth of information. One may also pick up a copy of our monthly publication, "Currents," for a listing of new materials.
Fall programs begin in October: story times for preschoolers, bedtime stories for families, after school adventure for young adults, kids on Saturday for all ages. Call or visit the library for further information on adult, young adult and children's programs.
Middle school students of Marsha Miller will display artwork in the library during the month of November.
The library offers in-house Internet and e-mail access to all. Children and young adults without a driver's license must have a parent's signature. A library card is not required. We do ask all to sign an agreement to our acceptable use policy.
