The Cape Girardeau Public Library is displaying a collection of 17 books on historic preservation this week as part of the local observance of National Historic Preservation Week.
Elizabeth Ader, library director, said the books were purchased with a donation from the city's Historic Preservation Commission.
Funding came from the Spring Home Tour of 1994, sponsored by the Bicentennial Commission.
"For those interested in preservation and restoration, the collection offers a great deal of useful information," Ader said.
The collection includes books on building and remodeling, interior and exterior decoration, rehabilitation of historic houses, lighting for historic buildings, wallpapers and fabrics, gardens, kitchens, and heating and ventilation systems.
The books are on display in the library lobby.
