The Cape Girardeau Public Library is celebrating National Library Week with a program by author Dr. Shirley Jordan. On Thursday Jordan will present "Can't Keep a Good Woman Down: Lessons in Love and Healing" at 7 p.m. at the library, 711 N. Clark. In her presentation, Jordan will take a historical and contemporary look at the lives and work of several extraordinary women who refused to allow hardship, misfortune or poor relationships to stand in the way of their success...

This program is free and open to the public, and is co-sponsored by the Department of Women's Studies of Southeast Missouri State University and is funded by the Missouri Humanities Council on the National Endowment for the Humanities.
