LIBERTY, Mo. (AP) -- The superintendent of Liberty schools has resigned amid allegations that he and other top administrators abused district credit cards.
Superintendent Phil Wright and the others are accused of not providing receipts for purchases with district cards, including for alcoholic beverages at hotels, restaurants and retail stores.
The district in the Clay County suburb of Kansas City has since approved stricter procedures for credit-card use, travel and other areas of financial concern.
Two top administrators were placed on leave.
After announcing Wright's resignation Monday night, the school board said the superintendent would be paid through June 2008. Board president Bob Young said Wright will not be paid for the final two years of his contract, which was to expire in 2010.
