LIBERTY, Mo. -- Arrest warrants and charges have been filed against two men suspected of abducting a 4-year-old boy from his home.

One of the men charged, Mark A. Trapasso of Round Rock, Texas, is believed to be the father of the missing child, Evan Anthony Trapasso, Liberty police Lt. Mark Misenhelter said Thursday.

Mark Trapasso and John A. Thomas of Excelsior Springs, Mo., have been charged with burglary in the first degree, assault in the third degree and child abduction. Bond for both men has been set at $500,000.

Misenhelter said a hot line received a call early Thursday that the boy was with his father in Texas. However, he said law enforcement officials have been unable to confirm the tip and Evan remained missing Thursday.

The boy and his mother, Jessica Trapasso, share a duplex with a male roommate, who was home with Evan when the intruders entered the home Wednesday. Jessica Trapasso was at work at the time. The male roommate's name and age were not released.

Police were called to the duplex about 2 p.m. They said two men entered the residence and held down the roommate. A third man entered and took Evan to a blond woman waiting in a pickup truck.

The third man and the woman left with Evan in the truck, Misenhelter said. The other men fled in a car.

The roommate said he did not know the intruders.
