Leona Schindler

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Leona M. Schindler, 95, of Perryville died Friday, April 25, 2003, at Perry Oaks Manor.

She was born Feb. 18, 1908, at Ste. Genevieve, daughter of Joseph T. and Bridget Kiefer Lurk. She and Gilbert A. Sutterer were married. He died Nov. 18, 1956. She and Clarence Schindler were married; he died in 1989.

Schindler was a clerical worker at the Association of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish, Ladies of Charity, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary; she was also an ombudsman.

Survivors include a son; John Sutterer of Perryville; two daughters, Mary Ann Moore of Perryville and Betty Formhals of Fenton, Mo.; two stepsons, Duane Schindler of Perryville and Allen Schindler of St. Louis; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 6:30 to 8:50 a.m. at Miller Family Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin P. Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
