With the Lenten season here, several fish fries will be held in the area Fridays during March and into April. Read on for area listings and meal information or visit semoevents.com for more details.

  • The St. Vincent's Men's Association will sponsor a catfish dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. each Friday during Lent in the parish center, 1919 Ritter Drive in Cape Girardeau. The dinner includes fresh American pond-raised catfish, famous "Todt" slaw, "Koehler" hush puppies, beans, fries, dessert and drinks. Cheese pizza also will be available for children. The price is $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for ages 5 and younger. Carryouts will be available.
  • The Jackson Knights of Columbus will host fish fries throughout Lent from 5 to 7 p.m. every Friday at the Jackson KC Hall, 3305 N. High St. in Jackson. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger.
  • The Knights of Columbus Council 6420 will hold its weekly fish fry at the hall, 28745 U.S. 61 in Scott City. The dinners will be from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday through April 7. The menu will include all-you-can-eat catfish, fried chicken, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies, potato wedges and drinks. The cost is $11 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 11 and free for children 5 and younger.
  • The Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 will hold a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. every Friday through April 14 at the lodge, 120 E. Yoakum Ave. in Chaffee, Missouri. The all-you-can-eat buffet will include chicken, sides and iced tea. The cost will be $11 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger.
  • The Oran Jaycees will host fish fries from 5 to 7:30 p.m. every Friday through April 14 at the Jaycees Hall, 200 Haw St. in Oran, Missouri. The menu will include U.S. pond-raised catfish fillets, crispy fried chicken, hushpuppies, slaw, homemade onion rings, french fries, fried biscuits, potato salad, baked beans and homemade macaroni and cheese. The cost for adults will be $11, $6 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger. For more information, call (573) 262-2215.
  • The Cape Girardeau Knights of Columbus will host fish fries from 5 to 7 p.m. Fridays through April 7 at the KC Hall, 318 S. Spanish St. in Cape Girardeau. The cost will be $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for those 4 and younger. The menu will include fried catfish, hushpuppies, french fries, baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and a drink.
