Jim Nelson (Legion Historical Chairman)

* Commander Bill Sullivan introduced Clarence Comer who informed the group of a McDOT proposal to relocate U.S. 61 in Jackson. The areas affected are North Hope, Florence and Mary streets. It will take the Legion parking lot on Mary Street. After discussion, it was voted the Legion will oppose this proposal.

* Dick Meyer stated he would be willing to help with the Homecomers Legion stand, but would not be in charge. Experienced volunteers are needed.

* Contributions to Post 158 are as follows: Tom, Donna and Jean Grantham in memory of Rusty Cracraft, Robert and Adell Hartle, The Kidders, Fritz and Marsha Sander, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Haupt, Bernard Schaper, Jim and Evelyn Nelson, and Kenny and Michelle Spooler.

* James Nelson said the Americanism Committee of Post 158 is refurbishing the wall memorial plaque in the high school. Listed are the names of Jackson High School graduates who were casualties of World War II: Edmund Landgraf, Weldon Propst, Odus Litzelfelner, Melvin Kieninger, Norbert Kuecker, Richard Otto Birk, Gilbert Sieck, Max Randol, Bill Deck and Lyman Watkins. The class of 1945 placed and sponsored the memorial.

* The name of Dick Schroeder was drawn for the attendance prize of $42.05. He was not present.

* Retiring Commander Sullivan expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to serve the post in that capacity.

* Aug. 7, 7 p.m., Executive committee meets in the Legion club room.

* Aug. 9, 7 p.m., Bingo at Legion hall.
