JACKSON -- The Altenthal Joerns Post 158 will celebrate the American Legion's 76th anniversary Thursday with a birthday banquet at the post at Mary and North High streets.
The social hour starts at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be at 6:45. The American Legion Auxiliary will make the food.
Distinguished guests are Dr. Norris Preston, commander of the American Legion of Missouri, and Donald Ramsey, director of the Veterans Administration regional office at St. Louis.
Representatives from the John J. Pershing Medical Center of Poplar Bluff will also attend.
Twenty-eight members will be honored as attaining 50 years of continuous membership in the American Legion.
