American Legion Post 158 of Jackson, has selected the following students as Music Student of the Month for March. April, and May. This is a program of the Americanism Committee of the Legion Post and recognizes outstanding music students of Jackson High School.
This is funded by the American Legion Bingo Account. Each of the students will receive a $100 Savings Bond in honor of their accomplishment's.
For the month of March, the music student of the month is Jason Stadt of Jackson. Stadt is a senior at Jackson High School and is the son of Steve Stadt and Donna Stedman. He has been a member of the marching band four years, Symphonic Band four years, and the jazz band for four years. Stadt has competed in solo and ensemble contests and has been a member of the All-District Band for four years. Stadt has also been a squad leader for the marching band and is a member of the Spanish Club and JAGAR.
He attends First Baptist Church and is a member of the youth group there. Following graduation, he plans to attend University of Missouri -Rolla, majoring in chemical engineering.
For the month of April, the Music Student of the Month is Amy Vrbosky. Vrbosky is a senior at Jackson High School and is the daughter of Paul and Beth Vrbosky. She has been a member of the symphonic band for three years, girls' chorus two years, and chamber chorus one year. Amy has competed in district contests in band, choir, percussion ensembles, and vocal ensembles. Amy has received a "1" rating at district and state with a percussion ensemble and vocal sextet.
She attends St. Paul Lutheran Church. After graduation, she plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University majoring in biology or music. Vrbosky would like to become an optomitrist or a music performer.
For the month of May the Music Student of the Month is Joe Niswonger. He is a senior at Jackson High School and is the son of John and Lisa Niswonger. Niswonger has been a member of the chamber choir for three years, All-District Choir for three years, and All-State Choir one year. He has also been a member of the Choir Council.
Niswonger has been a member of F.C.A., HI-Step, Team Spirit and Pep Club. He attends Zion United Methodist Church and is a member of the church choir. Following graduation, he plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and then transfer to the University of Missouri - Rolla.
