ORONOGO, Mo. -- A Lee's Summit man died Saturday while scuba diving with a group in a large quarry in southwest Missouri, authorities said.

Michael Glasenhardt, 39, did not appear when members of the club he was diving with did a surface check. The group had been underwater for 17 minutes at a depth of about 100 to 120 feet of water in an area of poor visibility at Blue Water Lake and Park Inc., said Jasper County Sheriff's Sgt. Derek Walrod.

The divers found Glasenhardt at a depth of about 116 feet, pulled him from the water and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Walrod said. He was pronounced dead later at a Joplin hospital.

Walrod said Glasenhardt had high blood pressure and may have suffered a stroke or heart attack.
