In 1999, LeeRowan's purchasing department set a goal for all of the buying agents to achieve Certification in Purchasing Management by the National Association of Purchasing Managers by the end of the year. This goal was achieved with Greg Temperly, Joe Figler, Bill King, Brandi Smith and Geoff Smith completing all requirements for certification.
The C.P.M. program focuses on the managerial, administrative, strategic, and tactical aspects of the purchasing and materials management function. Certification requires completion of testing in four modules covering Purchasing and Sourcing, Management, Supply, and Critical Issues in Supply Chain Management. Additional experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management completes the certification requirements.
The C.P.M. certification, along with Certification of Production & Inventory Control Management (C.P.I.M) through the American Production & Inventory Control Society (A.P.I.C.S.) are programs that are strongly supported by NewellRubbermaid as a means to further develop individuals for internal career growth within Operations.
