LEARNING: KRISTY JANSEN HONORED

Kristy Jansen, a junior at Notre Dame High School and Cape Girardeau resident, has been named a Commended Student in the 1999 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1 million students who entered the 1999 Merit Program by taking the 1997 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Jansen has also been named a Missouri Bright Flight scholar and has received the Curator's Scholar Award from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
