Jefferson Elementary gets new sign from PTA; Central Marching Tigers take first place in contest; Notre Dame wraps up successful activity week

Katie Cole of Cape Girardeau has been chosen out of 88 juniors and seniors to attend the Focus on the Family Institute in Colorado Springs, Colo., for the fall semester.

Jefferson Elementary gets new sign from PTA

The Parent Teacher Association at Jefferson Elementary School in Cape Girardeau recently purchased a $4,600 marquee sign for the school. The ribboncutting ceremony took place Thursday during PTA night.

Central Marching Tigers take first place in contest

The Central Marching Tigers Band took first place in the Farmington Band Competition on Sept. 17. The Marching Tigers placed first in the drum line competition, first in the auxiliary competition and first in their division. The Tigers competed in the Black division against schools with similar high school enrollment from the St. Louis area.

Notre Dame wraps up successful activity week

Notre Dame Regional High School doubled its goal of raising $50,000 during the school's activity week by raising $109,790. The senior class raised $289 per student with 118 students. The junior class raised $222 per student with 115 students. The freshman class raised $200 per student with 140 students. The sophomore class raised $189 per student with 116 students. The funds will go to clubs, tuition assistance and other school needs.
