Dr. Carlen Mulholland recently received her doctorate in human performance from Middle Tennessee University in Murphreesboro, Tenn. She received her bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University and her master's degree from Eastern Illinois University. She is the daugher of Ron Keller of Cape Girardeau and the late Vicky Keller.

Maginel earns spot on Berea College dean's list

Katherine Maginel, daughter of Jim and Mary Maginel of Cape Girardeau, was named to the spring 2004 semester dean's list at Berea College in Berea, Ky.

Local student completes math, science session

Christopher Isreal of Bollinger County recently completed the 2004 Upward Bound math and science summer session at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Isreal. The program is designed for high school students interested in math and science. Students spent eight hours each day in classes on math, science and technology.

Muench named to Arizona spring dean's list

Sarah Muench was named to the dean's list for the 2004 spring semester at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. Muench is a senior journalism major and recently interned at the Raleigh-Durham Herald-Sun and is staff editor for the State Press, Campus News. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Muench of Cape Girardeau.

Thrivent scholarships go to local students

Several local students recently received scholarships from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a not-for-profit financial services organization. Those selected for the $8,000 award include: Eric Roth and Cassie Ludwig of Jackson and Benjamin Wachter of Altenberg.
