Community scholarships go to area students
Local students Matthew Henderson, Steven Wissinger and Melissa Walters recently received Sam Walton community scholarships. Henderson, of Delta, plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia this fall and major in animal science. He is the son of Tom and Carol Henderson of Delta. Wissinger graduated this year from Notre Dame Regional High School. He plans to attend St. Louis University this fall and major in English/secondary education. Walters, of Jackson, also plans to attend Mizzou, where she hopes to major in journalism.
Fenwick makes dean's honor roll at Mizzou
Adam Fenwick has been named to the college of engineering's dean's honor roll at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was also named to the 2003-20004 edition of the National Dean's List. Fenwick is a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School and is the son of Steve and Nancy Fenwick of Cape Girardeau.
Cape Girardeau physician graduates with honors
Dr. Robert F. Sacha recently graduated magna cum laude from Creighton University with a doctorate in pharmacy. He is a Cape Girardeau physician and allergist.
Oran student receives five scholarships
Michael C. Painton of Oran, Mo., recently received scholarships from the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents, Boys State Leadership program, Tyson Heartland Agriculture, Community Teachers' Association and Band Boosters. Painton is the son of Don and Rhonda Painton and the grandson of Bob and Sonnie Michael of Commerce, Mo., and Shirley Painton of Painton, Mo. He is a 2004 graduate of Bell City High School, where he was named class valedictorian. He plans to attend Southeast and major in agribusiness.
Scott City student receives six scholarships
Jessica Estes, a 2004 graduate of Scott City High School, recently received scholarships including Southeast Missouri State University's president's scholarship, Missouri Leadership scholarship, Scott City Kiwanis scholarship, Noranda Aluminum scholarship, the Jeff Kondrad memorial scholarship and the Scott County sheriff's John Dennis scholarship. Estes is the daughter of Sandy Estes and the late Kim Estes. She plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University this fall and major in criminal justice and psychology.
