Hellrich graduates with honors

  • Rebecca Hellrich, daughter of Diane and Lenny Hellrich of Cape Girardeau, graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri-Columbia with bachelor of science and master's degrees in accountancy.

Future leaders summit

Kristen Shirrell and Kathryn Mothershead, students at Cape Girardeau Central High School, were selected to attend the People to People Future Leaders Summit on International Diplomacy in Washington, D.C., and New York, June 19 through June 28.

Scholarships

  • Michaela Drury, daughter of Wes and Connie Drury of Kelso, Mo., received the Security Bank and Trust Scholarship to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

* Shawn Daniel, son of David and and Diana Daniel of Scott City, received the Scott City Women's Club Scholarship and the Commerce Better Community Scholarship. He will attend Boyce Theological Seminary.

* Lindsey Amick, daughter of Gale and Mark Amick of Scott City, has received a volleyball scholarship to attend Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Ill.

* Zachary Harris, son of Kimberly and Eddie Harris of Scott City, has received the Class of 1983 Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University.

* Matthew Hayes, son of Mark and Debbie Hayes of Scott City, has received the University of Missouri-Columbia Curator's Scholarship, the John and Dorothy Ayres Scholarship, the Sam Walton Scholarship and the Missouri Bright Flight Scholarship. He will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

* Damien McElhaney, son of Kelly Fouts of Scott City, has received the Paul Guard Honor Scholarship and the Dean's Scholarship to attend Devry University.

* Kendra Medlin, daughter of Leeman Medlin Jr. of Kelso, Mo., and Sherry Nolan of Scott City, received the Commerce Better Community Scholarship, the Missouri Assessment Program Achievement Textbook Scholarship and the President's Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University.

* Bret Modglin, son of Bonnie Modglin of Scott City, received the Freshman Curator's Scholarshp, the Missouri Bright Flight Scholarship and the G.E. Huggins Undergraduate Scholarship to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

* Michael Petitt, son of Mike and Becky Petitt of Scott City, received the Gale Dale Memorial Scholarship, the Future Teachers of America Scholarship, the Community Teachers of America Scholarship and the Academic Recognition Award to attend Southeast Missouri State University.

* Rachel Watkins, daughter of Kathy and David Watkins of Oran, Mo., has received the Freshman Curator's Scholarship and the Missouri Bright Flight Scholarship to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

* Rebecca Wheetley, daughter of Ronnie Wheetley and Lyn Fortner of Scott City, received the Missouri Assessment Program Achievement Textbook Award, the Southeast Missouri State University Leadership Award, Music Scholarship and the President's Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University.

* Michael Yetman, son of James and Becky Yetman of Scott City, received a Football and Academic Scholarship, the Scott City Women's Club Scholarship, the Daughters of the American Revolution Outstanding Citizen Award and $50 savings bond to attend Central Methodist College.

* Ashley Livingston, daughter of Kim Livingston of Scott City, received the Leadership Award to Southeast Missouri State University.

* Jessica Drew, daughter of Brian and Kim Drew of Chaffee, Mo., and Amon Roger Seabaugh, son of Roger and LaWanna Seabaugh of Leopold, Mo., received the Mary Maud and Norvell Hosea Memorial scholarships. The scholarships were presented by the Whitewater, Mo., Masonic Lodge and the Whitewater Order of the Eastern Star. Drew will attend Metro Business College and Seabaugh currently is a student at Southeast Missouri State University.

Notre Dame offers summer camps

Notre Dame Regional High School is offering two camps this summer, July 10 through July 14.

A Young Author's Camp, grades 4 through 6, will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Children will experiment with age-level projects and create their own portfolio. Cost is $50 per person and includes all supplies and a camp T-shirt.

The Science Extravaganza Camp, for grades 6 though 9, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, with one evening in the new observatory. Instructors Angie Schaefer and Jerry Landewe will help every student tie dye a T-shirt gaze at the stars and ahve hands-on experiments in chemistry, astronomy and biology. Cost is $60 per person.

Ennis attends Boys State

Eric Ennis, son of Rick and Susan Ennis of Cape Girardeau, attended Boys State, June 17-24, at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo.

Students named to deans' list

Amber Branson, Candace London, Kelsey Scheeter, Jennifer Schlick and Megan Holloway, all of Cape Girardeau, have been named to the Dean's List for the 2006 spring semester at Maryville University in St. Louis.
