Raines finishes science program at Northwest

Summer Raines of Cape Girardeau recently completed the Missouri Academy of Science, Mathematics and Computing on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.

Central student chosen for fine arts academy

Carly Trautwein, a student at Central High School and daughter of Steve and Jody Trautwein, was selected to participate in the Missouri Fine Arts Academy this summer in Springfield, Mo.

Owen receives biology, physiology awards

Mary Owen of Cape Girardeau recently received the Rogert Ingersol Biology Award for a 3.5 or higher GPA and the Outstanding Student in Exercise Physiology award from Drury University in Springfield, Mo.

Kasten chosen to attend scholars academy

Kelley Kasten of Jackson, daughter of Brad and Vickie Kasten, was selected to attend the Missouri Scholars Academy this month at University of Missouri-Columbia.

Students honored for making top marks

The following local students were recently named to college dean's and president's lists:

Sarah Hyslop and Walter Schroeder of Cape Girardeau and Alex Ramsey of Burfordvlle were named to the list at University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind.

Major Burger of Chaffee, Mo., was named to the list at St. Louis University.

Erik Kabo of Cape Girardeau was named to the list at Georgia Institute of Technology.

Stephanie Jordan, daughter of David and Joanne Jordan of Cape Girardeau, was named to the list at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich.

Cynthia Cobb and Angela Soemo of Jackson, were named to the list at Truman State University.

Mesha Russell of Cape Girardeau, was named to the list at Union University in Jackson, Tenn.

Scholarships awarded to area students

The following local students recently earned scholarships:

Kelly Loos of Jackson received a $2,500 scholarship from the Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Missouri to Maryville University in St. Louis.

Christopher Lynn of Jackson, son of Earl and Belinda Lynn, received the Cleo and Mona Casady Leadership Scholarship.

Drew Willett, a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School and son of Richard and Lynne Willett, received a president's scholarship to Parsons School of Design in New York City and a Glory of Missouri Award from the Missouri House of Representatives.

Farrow, Jackson selected to attend Boys State

Eric Farrow and David Jackson were selected to attend the American Legion Boys State of Missouri this month on the campus of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo. Farrow is the son of Victor and Linda Farrow. Jackson is the son of Mike and Debbie Jackson.
