Local students receive scholarships
* Blake Driskell, son of Dan and Gerry Driskell of Cape Girardeau, has received a $1,000 Southern Illinois University College of Engineering Freshman Scholarship, a Provost Scholarship and a golf scholarship to attend SIU this fall.
* Candace London of Cape Girardeau, an accounting major at Maryville University in St. Louis, received a $1,000 scholarship from the St. Louis chapter of Financial Executives International.
* Amanda Dewrock, the daughter of Gene and Michelle Dewrock of Cape Girardeau, has received a University of Missouri-Rolla Trustee's Scholarship, University of Missouri-Rolla Women in Science and Engineering Scholarship and a Missouri Department of Higher Education Bright Flight Scholarship.
* Sarah Hinkebein of Jackson received a $1,000 scholarship as a recipient of the National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Award.
* Carson Kelley III of Cape Girardeau has been awarded a Boys State Leadership Award and a Missouri Assessment Program Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2006-2007 academic year. A Cape Girardeau Central High School graduate, Kelley is the son of Joan and Carson Kelley of Cape Girardeau.
* Farrell Wasson of Scott City has received the Scott City Chamber of Commerce Don Roth Memorial Scholarship and the Keith Anderson Memorial Scholarship to study horticulture and landscaping at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center. Wasson is the son of Eddie and Debbie Wasson of Scott City.
* Christopher Koehler of Scott City has received the Keith Anderson Memorial Scholarship and the Scott City PTO Scholarship to attend Mineral Area Community College this fall. Koehler is the son of Steve and Mary Koehler of Scott City.
* Cassandra Dillow of Scott City has received the Scott City PTO Scholarship, the Jeff Kondrad Memorial Scholarship, Scott City Kiwanis Scholarship, the Missouri Assessment Program Achievement Textbook Scholarship and the President's Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University. She is the daughter of Stan Dillow of Scott City.
Christine Sturms of Jackson High School has been selected to attend the Missouri Fine Arts Academy at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo., from June 11 to July 1.
