Cramer earns chemistry achievement award

Wade T. Cramer of Jackson was honored with the freshman chemistry achievement award at the annual Culver-Stockton College Awards Day in Canton, Mo. Cramer is the son of Tom Cramer and Denise Cramer of Jackson.

Karnes gets scholarship to Webster University

Amber Karnes of Cape Girardeau has received the Webster University academic scholarship for 2005-2006.

Area student awarded scholarship to CMSU

Terra Herzberger of Cape Girardeau has been awarded a Harmon College of Business Administration scholarship at Central Missouri State University. She is a junior marketing major.

Bock receives award, scholarship to Mizzou

Austin Bock of Gordonville has been awarded an excellence award to the University of Missouri-Columbia for 2005-2006. He has also received the Elyzabeth Schell scholarship. Bock, a senior at Jackson High School, is the son of Lee and Debbie Bock.

Steffens gets president's list award from Ranken

Adam Steffens of Jackson recently received a president's list award from Ranken Technical College in St. Louis.

Area senior gets dean's scholarship to StLCoP

Eric McLain has received a dean's scholarship to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy for the fall 2005-2006 semester. He is the son of Randy and Kathy McLain and a senior at Notre Dame Regional High School.

Central musicians earn superior rating at festival

The following Central High School students earned a superior rating in the State Music Festival in Columbia, Mo.: David Berry, Rachel Cain, Morgan Dambach, Beth Davey, Cheryl Hagler, Julie Hite, Jesse Kimball, Kaeli Kimes, Nathaniel Kinsey, Laura Lusk, Cara McElmurry, Joe Moore, Renee Moreland, Amanda Nabors, Kathryn Renfrow, Melody Stone, Bud Strom, Joe Van Nostrand, Ashley Willis and Jennifer Willis.

Three Troop 16 members attain Eagle Scout rank

Three local students were recently named Eagle Scouts by Troop 16: Christopher Eddleman, son of Bill and Hope Eddleman; Christopher Seyer, son of Matt and Donna Seyer; Eric McLain, son of Randy and Kathy McLain.

Scholars society picks Glaus for membership

Tyler Glaus of Chaffee, Mo., has been selected for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars. He is a student at Notre Dame Regional High School. The society recognizes the top scholars in the nation for academic excellence.

Beggs receives MAMIC scholarship to WUSTL

William Garrett Beggs, a senior at Kelly High School, has received a scholarship from the Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. He is the son of Bill and Diana Beggs of Kelso, Mo., and plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis.

Cape student receives scholarship to Mizzou

Sarah Unterreiner of Cape Girardeau recently received a campus dining scholarship to University of Missouri-Columbia.

Oran student named All-American Scholar

The United States Achievement Academy has named Clayton Daniel Scherer of Oran, Mo. an All-American Scholar. His name will appear in the organization's yearbook. He is the son of Danny and Marlene Scherer of Oran.

Butler named to dean's list at Centenary College

Angel Butler of Scott City was named to the spring semester 2005 dean's list at Centenary College of Louisiana.

Heisserer selected to 2005 Who's Who

Sara Heisserer of Oran, Mo., was selected for the 2005 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She is a senior at Williams Baptist College.

Cook recognized for achievement at TRCC

Rebecca Cook of Delta was among 80 students at Three Rivers Community College recognized recently for special achievement and campus leadership.

Saxony Lutheran senior receives scholarship

John Wilson Volkerding, a senior at Saxony Lutheran High School, received the Gerald Jones Commissioners' scholarship for 2005. He is the son of John and Lisa Volkerding of Cape Girardeau.

Kneer graduates with honors from SLU

Mark J. Kneer Jr. recently graduated summa cum laude from Saint Louis University's college of public service with a bachelor's degree in education/ mathematics. Kneer also received Carl Hangartner Award for scholarship, leadership and service. He was a member Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. He is the son of Mark Kneer of Cape Girardeau.
