McDonald gets president's leadership scholarship

Sarah McDonald has been awarded a president's leadership scholarship to attend Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, N.C. She also received an FCCLA scholarship. She is a senior at Notre Dame Regional High School and is the daughter of Gene and Pat McDonald of Jackson.

Hoffstetter named to college Who's Who

Missouri Valley College student Talitha Hoffstetter of Gordonville was named to the 2003 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Missouri Valley College is a small liberal arts school in Marshall, Mo.

Jackson student named to high school Who's Who

Robert Cheney Jr. of Jackson has been nominated for the second time to Who's Who Among American High School Students and has been inducted into the organization's honor society. He is a junior at Jackson High School and is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Cheney Sr.

Two students inducted into honor society

Catherine Myers and Lacey Illers of Jackson have been inducted into Southeast Missouri State University's chapter of Sigma Pi Kappa, the international honor society for historic preservation students.

District fair foundation offers scholarship

The SEMO District Fair Foundation Scholarship is now available to students who have completed at least 30 college credit hours and are majoring in agriculture or a related field. Other requirements include being a past participant or exhibitor at the fair as well as demonstrating financial need and maintaining a 2.5 GPA. For applications, call 243-5856.

Berea College names siblings to dean's list

Katherine Maginel and Calvin Maginel were named to the dean's list at Berea College for the fall 2004 semester. They are the children of Jim and Mary Maginel of Cape Girardeau.

The Southeast Missouri State University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society for freshmen inducted the following 134 students on April 3:

Melissa Jenkins, a 1998 graduate of Central High School, has been named to the fall 2004 semester dean's list at Collins College. Jenkins is the daughter of Violet Parkhill of Cape Girardeau and David Jenkins of Park Hills, Mo.

Southeast student heads up nursing association

Ashley Seabaugh, a Southeast Missouri State University student from Jackson, has been elected as president of the Missouri Student Nursing Association.
