Kindermusik Conservatory music gold cup winners

Fifteen students of Keyboards and Kindermusik Conservatory recently received gold cups from the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Division Festival.

Second gold cups -- Kay Howard and Kara Wilson.

First gold cups -- Lindsey Davis, Brianna Egbuka, Benjamin Goins, Brittany Graham, Aaron Mehner, Alex Mehner, Austin Mehner, Bethany Miget, Matthew Reed, Cayman "Sky" Smith, Mark Stewart, Anna Unterreiner, Rebekah Weber.

To receive a first gold cup, students must attend the festival three or four years to earn 15 points. For a second gold cup, students must attend six to eight years and earn 30 points.

The students are under instruction of Don, Janet and Lucas Presson.

Area students graduate from Southeast University

Southeast scholarship goes to Cape senior

Kelly L. Tummins, a senior at Central High School, has been selected as a winner for the Southeast Chapter Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship.

She will receive $300 toward tuition and fees at Southeast Missouri State University, where she plans to major in elementary education.

Tummins is the daughter of Joyce A. Tummins of Cape Girardeau and Michael W. Tummins of Dickson, Tenn. She is the granddaughter of Geraldine Stroup of Cape Girardeau.

Two named to Baylor University dean's list

Patricia Ellen Bennett and Ross Andrew Bennett, both of Cape Girardeau, have been named to the dean's list at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

To be named to the list, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade point average of 3.7 while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours of classes.
