Southeast university awards scholarships
Southeast Missouri State University has awarded 15 President's scholarships for the 2003-2004 school year.
Recipients are Ashley Doza, Amanda Otte, Jennifer Nedilnycky, Michelle Nedilnycky and Keith Fischer, all of Cape Girardeau; Trina Lang, Heather Boyles, Kristen Howard, and Cortney Thompson, all of Jackson; Rebecca Below and Roseann Enderle of Chaffee. Mo., Sara Essner of Benton, Mo., Steven Moore of Whitewater, Mo., Audrey Heisserer of Kelso and Amanda Eades of Scott City.
The scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who achieve an ACT composite score of 24 or score 1110 on the SAT. Recipients must also rank in the upper 20 percent of their high school class or achieve a high school grade point average of 3.5. The scholarship is also awarded to students who are their class valedictorian and achieve an ACT composite score of 21 or score 990 on the SAT, and to National Merit scholars.
The scholarship is worth $1,500 per academic year for up to four consecutive years.
Doza attends Jackson High School. She is the daughter of Greg and Darla Macke of Cape Girardeau and Dwayne and Dana Doza of Ste. Genevieve.
Otte attends Notre Dame Regional High School. She is the daughter of Gary and Cheryl Otte of Cape Girardeau.
Jennifer and Michelle Nedilnycky are students at Notre Dame Regional High School. They are the daughters of Ray and Donna Nedilnycky of Cape Girardeau.
Fischer is a student at Cape Girardeau Central High School. He is the son of John and Betty Fischer of Cape Girardeau.
Lang attends Jackson High School. She is the daughter of Roger and Lisa Lang.
Boyles attends Jackson High School. She is married to Jeffrey Boyles and is the daughter of Doug and Janet Sanders of Jackson.
Howard is a student at Jackson High School. She is the daughter of Greg and Joan Howard of Jackson.
Thompson attends Jackson High School. She is the daughter of Cheryl Kiefer of Jackson and Richard Thompson of Cape Girardeau. She plans on majoring in elementary education.
Below attends Delta High School. She is the daughter of Loretta and Sam Below of Chaffee.
Enderle attends Thomas W. Kelly High School. She is the daughter of Ralph and Fimble Enderle of Chaffee.
Essner is a student at Thomas W. Kelly High School. She is the daughter of Stan and Shirley Essner of Benton.
Moore attends Delta High School. He is the son of Garry and Gracelynn Moore of Whitewater. He plans to major in computer science.
Heisserer is a student at Scott City High School. She is the daughter of Tom and Lynda Heisserer of Kelso.
Eades attends Scott City High School. She is the daughter of Terry and Valerie Eades of Scott City.
Southeast releases 2002 fall semester dean's list

Orientation program for Kelly kindergarteners
A kindergarten orientation and school tour for parents and their children who will be attending kindergarten in the Kelly School District during the 2003-2004 school year will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the elementary gymnasium.
Parents who attend the meeting will have the first opportunity to schedule an appointment for kindergarten screening March 17 or 18.

Pharmacy college releases dean's list
Four local students were named to the fall 2002 semester dean's list at St. Louis College of Pharmacy: Kara Thoma and Chrissi Glastetter, both of Jackson, and Jennifer Diebold and Justin Lusk, both of Cape Girardeau.
Advance junior serves on Holden Youth Cabinet
Joseph Moroni, a junior at Advance High School, recently attended the State Board of Education meeting in Jefferson City as one of 45 Missouri youth selected in October to serve on Gov. Bob Holden's new Youth Cabinet.
The Youth Cabinet, made up of students ages 17 to 21, was created to encourage young people to become more involved in government.
Moroni and three other high school students are assigned to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
He is the son of Michael and Sharon Moroni of Oran, Mo.
