Record receives second master's degree

Darryl L. Record, formerly of Benton, Mo. and graduate of Kelly High School, received his second master's degree in Christian apologetics with honors from The Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Calif. He is the son of Constance and Roger Record of Benton, Mo.

Cape Christian students attend conference

Two eighth-grade Cape Christian School students recently attended the National Young Leaders State Conference in Jefferson City. Meg Goodman and Megan Keesee joined more than 80 other outstanding eighth- and ninth-grade students from across Missouri for the four-day program. Goodman is the daughter of Scott and Teri Goodman of Cape Girardeau. Keesee is the daughter of Angela Pratt of Jackson and Paul Keesee of Cape Girardeau.

Gross receives Peck education scholarship

Gabriel Gross of Jackson recently received the Vaona H. Peck Sophomore Education Endowment Fund Scholarship from the College of Education at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Gross is a 2004 graduate of Jackson High School, is the child of Tom and Donna Gross of Jackson and a sophomore majoring in music education.

Jackson student lands two scholarships

Kelli Niswonger of Jackson recently received the Merea Williams Scholarship and the Marilyn Lacey McMullen Scholarship from the College of Education at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Niswonger, a senior business and marketing education major, is a 2002 graduate of Jackson High School. She is the daughter of Ron and Ruth Niswonger.

Southeast's Sterrett selected as Walton fellow

Students In Free Enterprise has announced Dr. Jack Sterrett, associate professor of marketing at Southeast Missouri State University, as the recipient of the Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellows for the 2005-2006 school year. SIFE is a not-for--profit organization that is active on more than 1,800 campuses in more than 40 countries. It is the world's largest collegiate organization devoted to economic and free enterprise education.

Scala to attend Leadership Legacy Consortium

Cape Girardeau Public School superintendent Dr. David Scala was recently invited to the Leadership Legacy Consortium. The consortium will meet three or four times a year for the next three years to focus on advanced leadership training based on the Balanced Leadership Framework from Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning.
