Laxton twins to compete for $1,000 scholarships
Christy Laxton and Angela Laxton, both seniors at Scott City High School, were recently selected to compete for the National Honor Society scholarships. Next spring, 200 seniors from around the country will be chosen for the $1,000 scholarship. The Laxtons are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Laxton of Scott City.
Marching Tigers take third place in Carbondale
The Cape Central Marching Tiger Band recently received third-place honors at Carbondale, Ill. At a competition in St. Louis, the band was awarded a new standing platform for having the greatest percent increase in parents and fans attending the band performance. The band wrapped up the season by performing at the University of Missouri at Columbia, competing against more than 30 bands statewide. The band did not place in the top five but earned 72 points.
