Ross, R-Blue Springs, has filed legislation to protect churches that build meditation gardens where ashes can be scattered.

A Blue Springs church wants to build such a garden for its members but is worried the garden might be outlawed in the future, Ross told the House Local Government and Related Matters Committee on Tuesday.
