On Monday, the last man in a large-scale drug trafficking conspiracy was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison. Sixteen other people previously were sentenced for their roles in the conspiracy.
Dwayne Woods, 50, of Caruthersville, Mo., was sentenced to 210 months in prison for conspiring to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. Upon completion of that sentence, he will be placed on supervised release for five years.
According to prosecutors, beginning in the fall of 2009, several members of the Turner family, including Joe Lenzie Turner, Corey E. Turner Sr. and others, entered into an agreement to purchase large quantities of cocaine from various suppliers in Missouri and Arkansas. Woods was one of the suppliers.
Upon receiving the cocaine, various members of the conspiracy divided it, cooked it into crack cocaine and sold it.
The following is the 16 co-conspirators who were sentenced for their roles in the conspiracy, along with the prison sentence: Corey E. Turner Sr. of Sikeston, Mo. (life imprisonment); Antonio Turner of Sikeston (life); Donald R. Turner Jr. of Sikeston (life); Joe Lenzie Turner of Sikeston (240 months); Derrick L. Turner of Sikeston (192 months); Cemond Brooks of Blytheville, Ark. (135 months); Mario Baker of Sikeston (180 months); Roderick Marks of Sikeston (138 months); Elgin Mills of Sikeston (132 months); Corey Weatherspoon of Blytheville (120 months); David Turner of Sikeston (120 months); Corey E. Turner Jr. of Sikeston (120 months); Dawnika Hunt of Caruthersville (72 months); Shelby "Kay" White of Sikeston (60 months); Jerriereneika Dorsey of Sikeston (54 months); and Anthony Wilder of Sikeston (60 months).
