Lucy Fowler spent part of Sunday afternoon visiting the Glenn House, on of dozens of stops on the 19th annual Mississippi River Valley Scenic Drive.
"I've never been here before," the Pocahontas native said. Her friend, Rowland Julian, said he'd visited years ago. The couple said they looked forward to the gaslight services at 6 p.m. at Apple Creek Presbyterian, also on the tour, and would likely dine at St. John's Lutheran Church's annual kettle-cooked beef supper from 3 to 6 p.m. today.
Those are just a few places to go. Other spots Graham's Country Store in Leopold, Mo.; the Concordia Log College, a seminary in Altenburg, Mo., that has a spot on the National Register of Historic Places; Massey Log House and the Bollinger County Museum of Natural History, just two of 10 stops in Marble Hill; the Commerce, Mo., museum and several places in Jackson, Cape Girardeau and Scott City.
