Larry Bill has gained a spot on the November ballot as an independent candidate in the 8th Congressional District race.

Bill, of Jackson, turned in 7,462 signatures to Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan last month to gain a spot on the ballot as an independent. In a news release Tuesday, Carnahan said Bill had been certified.

Bill was required to submit nominating petitions containing at least 5,667 signatures from registered voters in the 8th Congressional District.

He will face Democrat Tommy Sowers of Rolla, incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson and Libertarian Rick Vandeven of Chaffee in the November general election.
