A proposed landscaping business at 1053 N. Clark St. received the backing of the Cape Girardeau Planning and Zoning Commission on Wednesday.

The commission recommended the city council approve a special use permit for Travis Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau to operate the business from his home. The residential property is owned by his father, Gerard Dirnberger of Oran, Mo.

The commission approved the permit request despite concern from some neighbors.

William Debrock, who lives at 1047 N. Clark, said he's concerned about having a landscape business next to his home.

"We love the beautiful quiet neighborhood and hope to keep it like that," he told commissioners.

Travis Dirnberger said he would store his trailer and his two mowers in an existing shed on the property.
