LADUE, Mo. — An estimated 150 students at a suburban St. Louis high school have walked out of class to protest recent race-related incidents.
The walkout happened Wednesday at Ladue Horton Watkins High School in Ladue. Some of the students expressed concern school officials are not taking the concerns seriously.
The walkout came less than a week after two white male students were disciplined for entering a school bus chanting “Trump, Trump, Trump,” with one implying black students should go to the back of the bus. That incident happened Nov. 10, two days after Republican Donald Trump was elected president.
Some residents told the school board Tuesday other racial incidents also have occurred.
School district officials said they take the concerns seriously, and are working on efforts to improve racial tolerance.
