A first-ever combined concert by the Cape Girardeau and Jackson municipal bands will be presented at 7 p.m. Monday at the Capaha Park Band Shell.

The performance caps the Old Fashioned Summer Holiday Concert Series sponsored by the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri.

The Cape Girardeau Municipal Band is conducted by Ron Nall. Nick Leist has led the Jackson Municipal Band since 1968.

The bands will play individually before uniting for "Stars and Stripes Forever."

The announcer for the event will be Jay Landers.

Other Labor Day weekend activities include:

-- Walker Bros. Circus, Friday and Saturday, Arena Park. Performances at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each day.

-- Benton Neighbor Day, Friday and Saturday at the Benton Ballpark. Live entertainment, carnival rides, parade, games, contests and exhibits.

-- St. Louis Blues Heritage Festival, Friday through Sunday. B.B King, The Neville Brothers, Delbert McClinton and Kenny Wayne Shepherd will perform Friday at the Fox Theatre, 527 N. Grand Blvd.

Other blues acts, including Wilson Pickett, Etta James, the Bel Airs and others, will perform Saturday and Sunday at Laclede's Landing on the St. Louis riverfront. The Micro Brews and Blues Pavilion, the Missouri Wine Bar and Cafe and the Children's Theater featuring musicians, jugglers and face painting will also highlight the festival.

-- 29th Annual Goldenrod Ragtime Festival, Thursday through Sunday, South Main Historic District in St. Charles. Performers include St. Louis Ragtimers, Elite Syncopators, Tiger Rag Forever and St. Louis Stompers.

-- St. Louis International Guitar Expo V, Friday through Sunday, St. Louis Regal Riverfront Hotel. A large collection of antique and vintage instruments will be on display and available to buy, sell or trade.

-- Art Happening '96, Friday through Sunday, the Greensfelder Recreation Center at Queeny Park in St. Louis. This juried, national exhibit and sale of fine arts and crafts includes live musical entertainment throughout the weekend. -- St. Louis County Fair and Air Show, Friday through Monday, Spirit of St. Louis Airport. Air shows, entertainment, exhibits, food booths and other special events.

-- SEMO Model Air Show, Saturday. Trains from the St. Louis Iron Mountain and Southern Railway depart from Jackson at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the model airshow at the Gordonville airport.

-- Apple Creek Picnic, Saturday, St. Joseph Church.

-- Horsehoe Lake Labor Day Festival Homecoming, Horsehoe Lake Community Building, Olive Branch, Ill., 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday.

-- Greek Festival, Saturday through Monday, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in St. Louis. Food and games, a costume pageant and a Greek bazaar.

-- 22nd Annual Japanese Festival, Saturday through Monday, Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. Food, entertainment, music and crafts from Japan.
