KRCU at Southeast Missouri State University picked up a first-place award Saturday at the Missouri Broadcasters Association's annual convention and awards presentation at The Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Mo. The public radio station earned top honors in the documentary/public affairs category for the station's production of "The Ghosts of the Mississippi." On the show, KRCU producer Jacob McCleland and Southeast history professor Joel Rhodes share tales of ghostlike shadows in the Cairo Fire Department and the thundering of railroading sledgehammers, among other stories. This year's award is KRCU's fourth Missouri Broadcaster's Award.
